Becky Isserlis

BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy MCSP HCPC

Clinical Lead Neurological Physiotherapist

Becky qualified as a Physiotherapist from the University of Brighton in 1997. She has specialised in neurological physiotherapy since 1999, initially working in Surrey and London and moving to Devon in 2001. She has gained extensive experience working with adults and children with neurological conditions in a variety of settings (including hospital environments, rehabilitation units, specialist schools and within a community setting). She has worked in the community in the Plymouth and South Devon area for over 20 years establishing excellent links and knowledge of local teams and services.

Becky has always been passionate about helping people rebuild their lives after illness or injury and adopts a client-centred, holistic approach with an emphasis on promoting self-management and self-care. She has undergone training in all areas of neurological physiotherapy including the Bobath Concept, strength training, postural management, FES, hydrotherapy, splinting and kineisiology taping.

In 2005, Becky began working independently as a Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist. Alongside her physio work she worked as a case manager working with clients with brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputees and complex orthopaedic injuries. This work gave her a solid understanding of the medico-legal process including writing clinical reports and medico-legal reports for solicitors and case managers.

Becky established Plymouth Neurophysio Ltd in 2012 and since then has expanded the team in response to the rapidly growing need for this specialist service throughout the South West. She feels incredibly proud to work with such a dynamic and highly skilled team which has gained the service the excellent reputation that it has today.

Becky is committed to lifelong learning and has a special interest in helping individuals with long term conditions reach their full potential through the use of exercise, activity and regaining optimum physical fitness. She is also a Yoga alliance certified yoga instructor and she thoroughly enjoys bringing adaptive yoga into her work with individuals with neurological conditions. In June 2023, Becky began providing accesible yoga classes and 1:1 sessions alongside her physio work and is passionate about continuing to expand her knowledge and experience within this area to ensure that yoga can be fully accesible for all.

Outside of work Becky loves spending time with her family and exploring the beautiful local coast and countryside. She loves running, walking her dogs and enjoying beach time and paddle-boarding as a family. Her inspirations include spending time in nature and her regular yoga and pilates practice and she finds that these are great antidotes to the 'busy-ness' of modern day life.
