Casey

Last year, I fell off my mountain bike landing on my head and fracturing my spine. My accident left me with a spinal cord injury and I was diagnosed as a T8 complete paraplegic (no sensation or movement below my waist).

I started working with Becky at Plymouth Neurophysio about four months after my accident. Weekly, I had sessions and massage, and it helped immensely. Most of my physio sessions included using a easy stand standing frame,  some assisted deep stretching that I was unable to do independently, and lots of other strengthening exercises. Becky certainly pushed me to the limits in the best possible way, I wanted to work hard and I definitely do that!

Since coming to Plymouth Neurophysio, I have been able to get some of my core strength back below the level of my injury which I was told was impossible. I am able to lift my arms above my head now, I have improved my posture, I also learnt to get from the floor to the plinth and I mastered rolling from my back to my front.

I am really grateful to the team for believing in me, thinking outside the box and for helping me reach my goals. And for helping me work towards my future goal of walking with KAFO
